In his first book, Unbutchered, Dehumanising a Plastic Surgeon, Dr Luke Gordon describes his early years and what influenced him to study medicine. He describes his school years and his love of sports and music. He then goes on to describe the years he spent in Durban, specialising as a plastic surgeon and the early years of starting his private practice.
In his second book, he relates his experiences with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) where he describes the inconsistent application of standards of justice and the gross inefficiencies and concluding matters. This is the first time he speaks of a malicious which hunt orchestrated by a vengeful colleague. He relates a seemingly innocuous incident which would have catastrophic consequences.
Dr Luke Gordon is currently in the final stages of completing his next book, ‘Perfection OIl – The Huegene Murray Story’ which will be published in the coming weeks.
